eBay will offer "eBay Storefronts" in about 2 - 3 months, according to a story appearing in the April 2 issue of Interactive Week magazine. An executive with knowledge of eBay's plans told the newsweekly that Meg Whitman, eBay's president and chief executive officer, has made the storefronts project a "top priority" for the company. In mid-January, eBay registered two domain names --"ebaystorefront.com" and "ebaystorefronts.com"
although neither one is currently live. Kevin Pursglove, an eBay spokesman, acknowledged only that the company is in the process of evaluating whether to launch such a storefront offering, and he said no firm launch date or timetable has been set.
[NOTE: we reported in the February 22, 2001, edition of AuctionBytes.com Newsflash that eBay was exploring the possibility of adding a storefront service that would utilize eBay's feedback system and offer insurance protection.]
