Daylight Savings Causes April Fools' Fiasco at eBay

A bug in Microsoft Visual C++ code wreaked havoc with eBay auctions on April Fools' Day. Some listings with end times between 2am and 7am PDT April 1 were ended prematurely. eBay said it will credit associated fees for any listings that were prematurely ended. This is no consolation to sellers who may have expected last minute sniping on their auctions. Many more auctions were affected, as items listed with end dates between 2am on April 1 and 2am PDT on April 8 will have ending times that are one hour less than expected. The bug also caused time discrepancies between eBay Listings, Search Results and View Item pages.
