Watchmaker Rolex sued eBay's German subsidiary, alleging trademark infringement and unfair competition. Rolex filed suit in a German court April 25 against eBay GmbH and eBay International. Rolex alleges that their trademark was infringed upon by eBay customers selling fake Rolex watches on the German Web site, resulting in unfair competition. Rolex is seeking an order forbidding sales of Rolex watches on the Web site as well as damages.
