According to a report released on Thursday by Nielsen/NetRatings and Harris Interactive, over $556 million of business was transacted last month on online auction sites, a 149% rise from May, 2000. According to the report, over 6.2 million consumers made purchases at online auction sites in May, 22% higher than the 5.1 million that did so in May 2000. The report also stated that eBay generated over 64% of all auction revenues for May and also had the highest conversion rate, with nearly one quarter of the eBay's visitors making a purchase. uBid.com came in second with a 14.7% total revenue share for May, and Egghead.com had a 4% share, Yahoo Auctions showed a 2.4 % share, and Amazon Auctions followed with a 2% share. The findings were collected from a May 2001 online survey of 35,000 Web users.
