In early July, life-long collector Harold Burson of New York, a member of the American Philatelic Society since 1963, donated his 60-volume collection of Independent Africa to the APS. The collection, appraised at more than $125,000, is one of the largest in-kind donations ever received by the Society. Burson's collection includes virtually all the stamps of Independent Africa from 1959 to 2000. "In recognition of this generous gift, the Society has named this portion of its holdings the Harold Burson Collection of Independent Africa," the APS Executive Director Robert Lamb stated. http://www.stamps.org
