Margarete Steiff GmbH, a world-renowned maker of high-quality collectible teddy bears, will produce JCPenney's 100th Anniversary Teddy Bear. James the 100th Anniversary Bear is 100% mohair and is inspired by and named for James Cash Penney, the legendary merchant who founded the J. C. Penney Company. Each hand-crafted bear is tagged with Steiff's famous "Button in Ear" quality symbol and comes with a certificate of authenticity. To preserve James' value as a collectible, Steiff will cease production of the bear on April 14, 2002
the 100th anniversary of the date on which Mr. Penney opened his first store in Kemmerer, Wyo. This unique, limited-edition collectible retails for $250. $10 of the purchase price goes to the JCPenney Afterschool program. James is currently available exclusively at JCPenney. com . In August, James will be available in the JCPenney Big Gift Book for holiday 2001, and he will hit larger JCPenney stores in December, just in time for Christmas gift-giving and the start of JCPenney's centennial year. http://www.jcpenney.com
