eBay Extends Ban of WTC/Pentagon Items - Except for Charity Auctions

eBay announced that it is changing its policy after consulting with the government of New York: eBay will now allow "positive" commemorative items that relate to the 9-11 terrorist attacks to be sold in its "Auction for America" charity listings. This includes items that incorporate images of the World Trade Center or Pentagon before the attack. This policy change ONLY applies to "Auction for America" listings.

However, eBay is extending its ban of items - commemorative or otherwise - that have World Trade Center, WTC, Twin Towers, Pentagon, September 11, Auction for America or similar terms in the auction titles (except for Auction for America listings). eBay is extending the ban for the rest of the year.

Half.com, a fixed-price site owned by eBay, is allowing items that relate to the World Trade Center or the Pentagon to be sold through its site, but asks that users not refer to the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or the events of September 11th in the comment section of offerings.
