As gaming fans everywhere anxiously await this week's release of two of the most anticipated consoles ever, activity surrounding Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's GameCube is rapidly heating up on eBay. Between October 8 and November 9, 2001, 1,280 Xboxes and Xbox-related items and 1,245 GameCubes and GameCube-related items sold on eBay.

According to eBay, Xbox is currently in the lead with 2,063 listings on the auction site compared to 815 GameCube listings. However, both systems' listings are far fewer than Sony's PlayStation 2, which currently has 8,641 listings on eBay and is expected to be the best seller again holiday season.
