eBay Roundup
By Ina Steiner

December 04, 2001

  • eBay will use Sprint's E|Solutions Internet Center services to expand eBay's web hosting facilities. The move allows eBay to have a back-up system geographically located outside the San Francisco Bay Area, ensuring continued site availability and improved disaster recovery. It geographically diversifies eBay's back-up infrastructure. Terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
  • Auction management software vendors are still warning their clients that eBay's Checkout feature is causing confusion with auction buyers.
  • TheStreet.com reports on eBay: http://www.thestreet.com/stocks/timarango/10004792.html
  • ESPN Inc. and eBay have launched ESPN Auctions (http://www.ESPNauctions.com), a year-round, online marketplace offering fans authentic, exclusive sports experiences and products from ESPN. To launch the program, ESPN has joined with eBay to contribute to its Auction for America, the online charity effort benefiting the victims, their families and communities affected by the tragic events of September 11. Through Thursday, December 13, ESPN Auctions will give 100% of the proceeds from items to the September 11th Children's Fund.
