eBay and the Consumer Electronics Association today announced "Bids to Help Kids," an online charity event that gives gadget lovers around the world the chance to purchase some of the latest and most "in demand" consumer electronics products. To kick off the charity event, Handspring has donated the very first Treo communicator to be offered for sale. The Handspring Treo is a new line of communicator products from Handspring that integrates a mobile phone, wireless data, like email, short messaging and Internet browsing, and a Palm OS organizer into one compact device.
The "Bids to Help Kids" charity auctions will raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the nation's largest youth mentoring program. The event features a wide variety of donated consumer electronics products and will be promoted on eBay and at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 8-11, 2002 in Las Vegas.
The preliminary auction of the first Handspring Treo will begin on December 10, 2001 at http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/cescharity2002. The main auction of the other charity items will be available online beginning December 30, 2001 through January 11, 2002 at www.ebay.com/ces.
