eBay Storeowners will begin paying subscription fees beginning in January 2002. The Stores subscription fees are $9.95 per month for basic level stores and $49.95 per month for featured stores. eBay Stores sellers will receive an email from eBay before their account is charged the subscription fee.
eBay is also introducing new features to increase the visibility of the Stores. Related Stores will be a folder that will appear when users type in a keyword to search for an item. Anchor stores will appear first in the list, then Featured Stores, then Basic level Stores. Within each tier of Stores, those with items ending first will display at the top of the list.
eBay will also introduce Store search within eBay Advanced Search. Users will be able to search for "Buy It Now" items in Stores and search for Stores by name by typing in the name of the Store. A list of Stores whose names contain the keyword entered will be returned.
