uBid has selected Equilibrium's MediaRich service to automate the creation and delivery of all product images for their new site scheduled to go live at the end of January 2002. Equilibrium is a leading provider of automated imaging solutions and majority-owned operating company of CMGI, Inc. "We are implementing Equilibrium MediaRich to dynamically deliver two versions of every single product image on our auction site," said Pablo Ugaz, chief information officer at uBid. "MediaRich will also allow our customers to inspect each product image up-close, which improves the likelihood of a purchase."
MediaRich is server-based imaging software that automates image production and enables the dynamic delivery of images to virtually any output device. MediaRich has dynamic imaging features such as zoom/pan, colorization, mixing and matching, 360-degree rotations and text overlays. MediaRich streamlines image production workflow, resulting in dramatically reduced costs and faster time-to-market for producing rich visual content.
uBid, also majority-owned by CMGI Inc., features a rotating selection of more than 12,000 products daily in 16 different product categories, including computers; computer peripherals; computer components; home office; housewares; sports and hobbies; jewelry and gifts; accessories; off-lease computers; consumer electronics; digital cameras and video; apparel and linens; home improvement; travel and events; collectibles; and everything else.
In addition to uBid's own auction listings (uBid Direct), uBid features uBid Preferred Partner auctions listed by uBid-approved businesses and backed by uBid or brand warranties. Users can also buy or sell products through uBid's Consumer Exchange, in which consumers list their items for auction with no listing fee. http://www.ubid.com
