eBay announced that it has made improvements to its End of Auction email. eBay said the email will now prominently display the seller's User ID and will include a link to all of the seller's items. eBay sends an email to the high bidder at the end of an auction to inform them that they have won the item. This new feature will ensure that users can quickly recognize sellers and access a complete listing of their items.
eBay has angered its sellers in the past for limiting the amount of marketing they can do to eBay buyers. eBay sellers may not link to their non-eBay storefronts in auction listings. Last year, many sellers became outraged at eBay's "Recommend" policy in which "underbidders" were sent email telling them where they could get the same item elsewhere on the site. In contrast, the policy announced yesterday helps promote sellers' own auctions to winning bidders. eBay said it also improved its selection process to present items that are even more similar to the ended item, helping buyers find more items of interest from the same seller.
