SellYourItem.com has announced a partnership with ImageEvent.com to provide low cost image-hosting to
its members. Sellers on the auction site will be able to upload images to ImageEvent directly through the listing form. Users will first have to sign up for a paid membership to ImageEvent, which will charge sellers directly. ImageEvent costs $2.95 per month or $24.95 per year for up to 1,500 images. Image-hosting services compete for auction sellers since they typically include photographs of the items they sell on auction sites and need hosting services.
Founded in April 2001, SellYourItem.com is a privately held company headquartered in Florida. It is waiving basic listing fees for 2002 as it tries to gain traction in the highly competitive online auction market. Unlike eBay, SellYourItem has a feature that extends auctions by five minutes when last-minute bids, known as snipes, are placed on auction items.
