eBay Requires Sellers to Download ActiveX for Picture Hosting Service
By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com April 24, 2002
eBay said on Tuesday that it would require sellers who use eBay Picture Services to download the latest ActiveX control. The download is required to use eBay Picture Services, powered by iPIX, and is needed to support code changes being made to eBay Picture services.
While malicious or poorly written ActiveX components can allow others to access information on your hard drive via the Internet, according to Toby Aulman, Senior Web Applications Developer at Abzoid Web Designs, eBay said the download would not affect the security of users' systems.
