A report that eBay was withdrawing its sponsorship of the Antiques Roadshow was called "inaccurate" by Kevin Pursglove, a spokesperson for online auction site eBay. eBay has sponsored the popular PBS television series for the past two years. Although there is no agreement in place yet, eBay and the Antiques Roadshow are in the process of negotiating.
"The same leak was coming out last year and proved to be wrong," said Pursglove.
Taping for the new season begins June 15th and, according to Roadshow Executive Producer, Peter Cook, negotiations will not affect the summer schedule. "It's not unusual for us not to have all of our funding in place before we go on the road." The Roadshow will be held in Seattle, Cleveland, Albuquerque this summer, as well as three other locations.
"Chubb's Antiques Roadshow" is a top-rated PBS TV series produced by WGBH Boston. It features a series of local events at which top appraisers determine the value of America's "hidden treasures," tell the stories behind those treasures and encourage people to preserve and protect their valuables. The show airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). http://ww.pbs.org/antiques
