Collector's Information Bureau (CIB) reported that patriotism has become a major inspiration to the artists and companies producing limited edition art today. Americana has been among the top ten themes for limited edition art over the years, but the tragic events of September spurred a public response that has resulted in some editions being sold out quickly, said Karen Feil, executive director of the CIB.
The Collector's Information Bureau (CIB) is a not-for-profit trade association that catalogs limited edition art and collectibles and tracks their current replacement values. Celebrating its 20th Anniversary year, the CIB conducts on-going research with collectibles retailers on recent sales prices for retired editions, and maintains a database of more than 70,000 collectibles on its Web site.
The 11th Edition Collectibles Price Guide will be available in late June 2002, at the organization's Web site. The publication sells for $14.95 and summarizes the results of the latest surveys on the major lines of miniature buildings, dolls, figurines, plates, ornaments, art glass and steins that Americans collect. The CIB also helps collectors with referrals to dealers who can help locate sold-out or retired editions and referrals to repair services.
