eBay introduced a new selling option that will become available in July. eBay allows auction sellers to put a "Buy It Now" price on auction listings, allowing potential bidders to end the auction early. Yesterday, eBay introduced a non-auction format of the Buy It Now (BIN) feature.
The new format will allow sellers to list an item at a fixed Buy It Now price throughout the duration of the listing until sold. In addition, sellers will be able to modify the BIN price during the duration of the listing. Under the present auction-style BIN format, as soon as a bidder places a bid on a BIN item, the BIN option is removed from the listing, and the item goes to the highest bidder at the close of the auction.
The new Fixed Price BIN format will also allow sellers to list multiple quantities of the same item in the listing, allowing buyers to purchase one or more of the same item at once. The Fixed Price BIN listings will have the same duration options (3, 5, 7 and 10 days) as auction-style listings, and will incur the same fees. To help buyers know which items they can bid on or purchase immediately, there will now be three tabs on the Search and Listings pages, one for all items, one for auction items, and one for BIN items.
