eBay ended the first day of its 3-day exposition with a "category portal extravaganza." The event took place
in a ballroom on the third floor of the Anaheim
Convention Center from 4 - 7 pm.
The room was divided into seven category areas, each
hosted by the eBay employees that make up the category
team. There were activities, games, entertainment and
refreshments for the crowd of attendees.
The CollectingChannel.com's Ask the Appraiser service
had a jewelry appraiser on hand. People were able to
get their jewelry appraised by Clark Davis of Colorado
Gold and Slilver in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and an
appraiser for the Ask the Appraiser service.
Sam Campos and Norma Naranjo brought a ring to be
appraised. Sam had purchased the ring for $1,900 from
a private dealer for Norma's engagement ring. (The
couple are getting married in December.) Davis was
able to assure the couple that the ring was worth at
least the price they paid for it. He also said they
might have paid up to $4,000 for the ring at a retail
jewelers.
Sam and Norma are eBay sellers who came to eBay Live
to attend the classes and meet fellow eBay sellers.
Sam sells videos under the name of grffin@aol.com, and
Norma uses the name mzbrat21@yahoo.com.
Meg Whitman surprised attendees by making an
appearance and autographing "trading cards" with her
image.
Whitman will be giving the keynote address tomorrow
morning at 9 am.
