eBay Live Exposition Hall Showcases Products & Services for eBay Users
By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com June 22, 2002
Twenty vendors showed up to hawk their wares to attendees of the eBay Live convention. Auction management software and shipping companies were among the companies in the exhibit hall set up on the third floor of the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday, day two of the 3-day event.
The aisles were jam-packed as people eagerly sought giveaways, including tshirts and tchotchkes. Vendors seemed pleased at the turnout and happily explained their services to experienced Powersellers and eBay newbies alike.
Meg Whitman, President & CEO of eBay, made an appearance in the hall, as did little people dressed as elves giving away socks. Many attendees were confused about the significance of elves, which are based on a character known on the boards as Elfie. Posters to eBay message boards know Elfie as a mischievous trouble-maker, known to steal socks and love "choklit."
Munjal Shah, CEO of Andale, and Scott Haskins of Zoovy, agreed that the turnout was good. Both companies sell ecommerce software and solutions with extensive auction-management features. The two companies were among nine auction-management software companies exhibiting at the eBay event. Other exhibitors included Fairmarket, Microsoft, Palm, PayPal and UPS.
Many attendees visited the exhibit hall between "eBay University" classes. Day two of the event concludes with a Saturday night gala. The evening begins with a cocktail reception, will include a presentation of community awards, and will conclude with a musical performance given by Super Diamond.
