Auctioneers from throughout the United States and other countries have gathered to attend the 53rd annual International Conference and Show of the National Auctioneers Association going on through July 20 in Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando.

The conference features more than 60 informational seminars, a technology summit and specialized sessions for state auctioneer associations. Auctioneers' specialty areas are the focus of special interest tracks for agribusiness, automobiles, legal, commercial/industrial, real estate, personal property, and others.

William Sheridan, CAI, AARE, of Mason, Michigan, and Jill Doherty of Bay Shore, New York, won the men's and women's division titles of the International Auctioneer Championship on Wednesday. Sheridan and Doherty each walked away with $5,000 in prize money, a year's lease on a new car, a championship trophy and ring.

Auctioneers also voted in a new president. Larry Theurer, a resident of Wellington, Kansas, was elected president of the National Auctioneers Association on Thursday. Theurer CAI, GPPA, most recently served as the NAA's president-elect and has served as its' vice president and as a member of the Board of Directors. He was elected during the organization's annual meeting held during the International Auctioneer Conference and Show, the largest meeting of auction professionals in the United States.

Coinciding with the Conference, the Auction Marketing Institute will be offering coursework that allows auctioneers, appraisers and auction support staff to complete educational requirements for designated or certification programs.

A few of the many companies exhibiting at the show are Auction Management Solutions Inc., Proxibid, eDeposit Corp., Kruse International, Bidpath Corp., MyAuction.com and Proxibid Inc.
