Reading AuctionBytes: Bucking a Trend, WhatACollection.com Goes from Fee to Free

What A Collection.com, the antique and collectibles community that lets members build their own Web sites, has been relaunched, and is now available for free.

In an effort to broaden its member base, What A Collection will now allow collectors to "show off their stuff" for free. This includes the ability to post photos of their collections on their own WACWebsites. It also includes features that are rare for the Internet. For example, What A Collection will scan and upload photos for members who aren't "computer saavy," allowing some seniors and other less technical visitors to get their collections online with a minimum of trouble.

"Our goal remains the same," said President Barbara Ley. "We said from the start that we were building the world's largest collection of collections - and we think the elimination of membership fees will help us reach that mark sooner."

What A Collection offers visitors additional features, including "Collector of the Week." http://www.whatacollection.com
