eSnipe announced it will launch version 3.0 of its eSnipe auction sniping tool on September 1, 2002. "Sniping" is a term used for online bidding that takes place during the last few minutes of an auction. Many bidders believe sniping helps prevent bidding wars and hope that their bid will be the last received before the clock runs out.
eSnipe 3.0 has an improved user-friendly format with a new layout design. New features include outbid notification, bid groupings and novice and expert modes, which will allow users to improve their bidding strategies and win rates on eBay.
eSnipe says it has more than 100,000 registered users and makes more than $30 million per month. There is a free two-week trial. After that, users pay fees averaging about 1% of the transaction amount.
