Internet Pictures Corporation (iPIX) was awarded $1.4 million from Infinite Pictures (dba iMove, Inc.) after winning a patent lawsuit involving core iPIX patents on immersive technology. The lawsuit was based on an iPIX patent (U.S. patent number 5,185,667, now RE 36,207) broadly covering systems for transforming fisheye photographic images and their equivalents into perspective corrected immersive images.
In a separate matter, iPIX has settled a pending lawsuit filed by Ford Oxaal. As part of the settlement, iPIX obtained a license to disputed rights on behalf of iPIX and its customers and business partners under all patents owned by Ford Oxaal.
"These two actions place iPIX in a strong position relative to its intellectual property rights in immersive imaging," said Don Strickland, iPIX president and CEO.
iPIX provides imaging solutions that create, process and manage a rich variety of media including still images, 360-degree by 360-degree immersive images, video, animation, text and audio. iPIX powers eBay Picture Services.
