Members of the Association of Priority Mail Users (APMU) met with postal officials this week to press for improvements to Priority Mail service, according to DMNews.com. The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service was in Washington, DC, conducting its monthly meeting September 5 and 6.
The APMU is a group that "works diligently to protect, advance, and communicate the interests and concerns of Priority Mail users, and to promote improvements in the performance and value of Priority Mail." The organization is a member of the Mailers Technical Advisory Committee and periodically meets with the Postal Service's Priority Mail management to discuss planned and potential improvements.
According to DMNews.com, many direct marketers believe that Priority Mail service has deteriorated over time, especially since last September 11, and says that Priority Mail frequently gets the highest rate increases in rate cases.
APMU told DMNews.com that postal officials made certain assurances at the meeting, including a commitment to hgiher levels of consistent on-time delivery of Priority Mail and a decision to investigate ways to improve mailers' access to Delivery Confirmation data.
APMU says it is the only consolidated voice of Priority Mail users in the mailing community.
