eBay Holds Penny-Gallery-Day Promotion

eBay is offering sellers the opportunity to add an enhanced feature to their auctions for one penny. On Thursday, September 19, users will be able to participate in the eBay Gallery for a penny. All other fees (all insertion fees, all Final Value Fees and all other optional listing fees, such as Buy It Now, Featured Plus, Highlight, Bold, extended duration insertion fees, etc.) will still be charged. Listings revised to add the Gallery option on Penny Gallery Day that were not first listed on Penny Gallery Day are excluded from the promotion.
eBay has said in the past that auctions using the special Gallery feature have an 11% higher price on average. (The figure is based on sales from February 2002.) When buyers browse categories or search with keywords, they see Gallery items' photos directly in the result lists. Gallery items stand out in the list and let buyers see what's being offered without another click. When buyers click the Gallery Items Only tab, they see a catalog-like page showing photos of Gallery items.
During the Penny Gallery Day, Gallery fees for regular auction-style listings, eBay Motors non-vehicles listings, Real Estate listings and 30-day Store Inventory listings will be $0.01 on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com).
eBay Motors vehicle listings, Sothebys.com, Live Auction, International, and Professional Services listings are excluded from the Penny Gallery Day.
