The award-winning television show "Flea Market Finds with the Kovels" moves from Wednesdays to Fridays as it begins its second season on HGTV (Home & Garden Television Network) on October 4, 2002. New episodes air Friday nights at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET. For those who missed last year’s shows, they are being rerun on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. beginning October 5.
Nationally syndicated columnists and well-known antiques and collectibles experts Ralph and Terry Kovel are the hosts of the show. They visit dozens of the largest and best flea markets in all parts of the country to discuss and price hundreds of collectibles, from antique wall clocks to vintage shoes. In each episode, the Kovels discover new trends, talk to knowledgeable dealers and show dozens of different antiques and collectibles.
The show provides information on when and where to shop, what to look for, what to ask a dealer and what to avoid when rummaging through flea markets.
This season, "Flea Market Finds with the Kovels" visits the DC Big Flea in Chantilly, Va; Kane County Flea Market in St. Charles, Ill; Atlantique City Mega Fair in New Jersey; Renninger's Flea Market in Mount Dora, Fla; Art Deco Weekend by the Bay in San Francisco; J&J Flea Market in Brimfield, Mass.; Chicago Antique Toy Show; Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, Calif; Santa Monica Airport Flea Market in California; Memphis Big One in Tennessee; Springfield Flea Market in Ohio; and more.
Ralph and Terry Kovel are authors of the best-selling Kovels Antiques & Collectibles Price List 2003 (Three Rivers Press, $16.95). This is the 35th edition of the annual book. The price list is one of more than 85 books by the Kovels. They also write a nationally syndicated newspaper column that appears in 150 papers. Their subscription-only newsletter, “Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles,” boasts the largest circulation of any antiques publication in the world. Their Web site, http://www.kovels.com, lists prices for thousands of items, provides a directory of resources for collectors, and includes articles on antiques and collectibles.
HGTV’s "Flea Market Finds with the Kovels" is created and executive produced by the Emmy Award winning team of Albert Fisher and George Merlis. The series is produced by Jeff Copeland for Flea Market Productions, based in Los Angeles.
