eBay Says New PowerSeller Program Is Coming

eBay's new PowerSeller Program, which the company announced at its eBay Live conference in June, will be rolled out in the coming weeks. eBay will email current PowerSeller members with details on the new program and their new membership levels.

The new program will have five levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium. Previously there were only three levels. eBay is also lowering the minimum Gross Merchandise Sales (GMS) requirements from $2,000/month to $1,000/month.

Other changes to the program include a new icon and logo, revised portal pages, a new Web form providing dedicated 24/7 eSupport and an offline quarterly newsletter.

June's announcement promised that Titanium PowerSellers ($150,000/month in GMS) would be invited to an annual executive retreat with eBay executives. eBay's CEO Meg Whitman had also promised all PowerSellers access to a health insurance plan that they would be able to purchase through Physician's Mutual.

In related news, eBay said it would introduce a new version of the End of Auction email that would be different for buyers and sellers. "The design of these emails has been improved, and the email content has been shortened, so that sellers and buyers can find the information they're looking for more quickly and easily. When available, shipping information and other charges will also be included in these emails."

Information about the existing PowerSeller program may be found at http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/f-powersellers.html.
