Auctionworks Teams with GENCO to Help Retailers Sell on eBay
By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com September 26, 2002
Auctionworks announced a partnership with GENCO Distribution System to help retailers and manufacturers optimize margins on returned and excess inventory. GENCO provides reverse logistics, supply chain management and asset recovery to companies like Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, J.C. Penney.
Auctionworks and GENCO worked together to develop a comprehensive solution integrating GENCO's warehouse software with Auctionworks sales management software to create a solution that enables GENCO to efficiently list and sell select inventory on eBay. The partnership allows large retailers and manufacturers to efficiently test the viability of eBay and other online marketplaces.
"In addition to offering our customers inventory liquidation through traditional salvage channels, this partnership now allows us to help customers maximize their overall margins by providing easy access to the growing eBay marketplace," says Pete Rector, GENCO's senior vice president of strategic initiatives.
Last year, GENCO made a significant investment in technology start-up Slingshot Solutions to develop new Web-based distribution solutions. Slingshot provides inventory and merchandising software that helps manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers optimize returns on marketplaces like eBay.
