Holiday Sales of Antiques & Collectibles Are Up, But Prices Are Down

TIAS.com said October online sales volume of antiques and collectibles of its merchants increased over October 2001, but the average purchase price per an item has decreased.
"The economic situation has hit consumers very hard," said Phillip Davies president of TIAS.com "Many of our online merchants have compensated by lowering prices to increase sales. The result is a dramatic increase in sales, but the average ticket price per an item has dropped when compared to the same period last year. If this trend continues, we should see record Holiday sales volume for November and December 2002."
