eBay Runs Seller Promotion Beginning Monday, Announces Holiday 'Quiet Period'

eBay is running a special "Start Low, Pay Less" promotion for one week in November. eBay will give sellers a discount on insertion fees for no-reserve items with a starting price of less than or equal to 99 cents. The promotion is available on the U.S. site from Monday, November 11 – 17, 2002. The discounted insertion fee will be 20 cents for single quantity regular auction-style listings; single quantity eBay Motors non-vehicles listings; and single quantity Fixed Price listings. (Normally insertion fees of 30 cents would apply.) All other fees will apply.
eBay also announced it would institute a "quiet period" during the holiday shopping season. From November 10 – December 31, 2002, eBay will significantly minimize the release of new features. The announcement read in part, "We have received feedback from our sellers requesting that as few changes as possible take place during this period of the year." However, the company said it will continue the first phase of PayPal integration into the eBay site and will offer several promotions for sellers.
