MyBookExchange.com, an online book exchange service for students, announced it is opening membership to everyone. MyBookExchange.com members exchange books among themselves with no selling or buying. "The service is a cross between an auction site such as Ebay, and a book club on steroids," said Sean Jeffrey, founder of MyBookExchange.com. "Unlike an auction site, however, there are no bids."
The original idea was to help college students by providing an online medium for them to exchange text books. With the average cost of text books being approximately $70 and rising, it appealed to budget conscious college students. The service was extended to the public to provide an inexpensive means for members to access a worldwide database of books.
The service starts with one month free, the second and third months cost $4.95 per month, and $9.95 per month thereafter.
