eBay is holding an online workshop called, "How Books Are Authenticated Online." Leonie Moger, President of PK Books, and Edward Ripley-Duggan, Chief Authenticator for PK Books and owner of Wilsey Rare Books, will explain how books are authenticated online. The eBay workshop promises attendees will learn who performs these authentications, what their experts look for, what references they use, and how online authentications can benefit eBay booksellers.
In October, eBay announced an eBay-approved book appraisal service called PK Books. For a $6 fee, PK Books directs an authentication request to an expert with experience in the genre of the item listed. Once the authenticator is satisfied that the book is adequately and accurately described, the PKBooks seal (which is linked to the supplied information) is emailed with instructions on how to post it to the auction listing.
The book-authentication workshop will be held on Friday, December 6th, from 17:00 PST to 19:00 PST. Workshops are hosted in discussion threads on the Workshop Board. To get to the Workshop Board, first go to eBay.com, click "Community", then "Talk", then "Discussion Boards" in the Navigation Bar. Scroll down, and you'll find the link to the threaded Workshops Board on the right side of the page.
