Rotman Auction, a division of Sales Online Direct (SOLD), is fulfilling its goal to become a major seller of collectibles in all categories. Once known primarily for its sports memorabilia and movie poster inventory, the company's diversification efforts have resulted in fourth quarter sales on eBay averaging $40,000 per week, compared to $12,000 per week during the previous quarter.
"We have been steadily raising the bar for both the quality, quantity and price level of our offerings," said Don Flanagan, Rotman Auction president of Collectibles. "The numbers of items we are offering on eBay per week has risen more than 50 percent, resulting in an increase of more than 20 percent for our average sale price."
Among recent company purchases made by Flanagan are the bulk of multiple collections owned by Roger Steckler, co-author of An Illustrated Price Guide to Non-Paper Sports Collectibles, and one of the most extensive private record album collections in the country.
Rotman Auction sells as rotman-auction on eBay. The company has maintained a greater than 90 percent sell-through rate on all lots posted. Parent company SOLD maintains and develops portals and Web sites for various companies and is the developer of AuctionInc Shipping Calculator, part of the AI Commerce Suite.
