Royka's Auctioneers & Appraisers discovered a group of letters dated from 1847 to 1880 written by a California Gold Miner. The owner of Murphy's Diggings Gold Mine in California wrote the letters to his brother in Boston, Massachusetts. The fifty letters were very detailed, describing significant historical events including the election of Lincoln, abolitionists and California's support of the Union.
Royka's Auctioneers & Appraisers estimated the value of the letters at $100,000 to $150,000. They also found in a separate box of photos a group of rare Daguerreotypes from the California gold mines along with a letter detailing everything in the mining scene.
