AccessibleAuctions.com has launched as the first auction site accessible to the Special Needs Community. Founder Kevin Phillips is also the founder and CEO of UpBeats.com, the world's first e-commerce site that is fully special needs accessible.
"There are about 600 million people in the world who have some kind of disability," Phillips said. As a parent of a special needs child, Kevin is constantly faced with the challenge of finding affordable solutions.
"I usually have to pay full pop for everything," said Phillips. "And since special needs products require intricate care in design and building, they're often expensive. However, very often, a person with disabilities will outgrow or go beyond the need of a product or piece of equipment, and AccessibleAuctions is a great way to sell that item to someone else that has a need for that item. Also, it's a great place for people to find all the other stuff that they might try to find on eBay or other auction sites, but can't because those sites are not special-needs friendly."
Accessibility refers to Web page design that allows disabled persons to access the page as easily as non- disabled persons. AccessibleAuctions.com is accessible to people using Braille machines, TTY, text readers, page reading software, voice-activated systems, and hotkey systems.
