Antiques Roadshow announced its summer 2003 tour destinations. Stops include Savannah, GA (July 12); Chicago, IL (July 26); Oklahoma City, OK (August 9), and San Francisco, CA (August 16). The most interesting finds from each city will be taped this summer for broadcast in 2004. The Antiques Roadshow also told its appraisers of its plans to continue taping short tips and advice for viewers information.
The appraisal television show began its seventh broadcast season Monday, January 6, 2003. The Emmy-nominated series is seen by over nine million viewers each week. Major funding for Antiques Roadshow is provided by the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Additional funding is provided by public television viewers. eBay discontinued its sponsorship of the show last year. eBay has had trouble launching its own television program, a syndicated daytime show originally scheduled for last fall.
The Antiques Roadshow has yet to find a new host. Last November, Dan Elias announced he was leaving the program after the 2003 season in order to devote full time energies to his contemporary art business. He had been host of the show for the previous 3 years.
