eBay will raise fees for Seller's Assistant Basic starting in May. The monthly fee will increase from $4.99 to $9.99.
Last fall, eBay introduced Selling Manager software, which it said would eventually replace Seller's Assistant Basic (SA Basic). eBay decided to keep SA Basic after customers complained about its planned demise, but is nearly doubling the cost to users.
eBay acquired the Seller's Assistant software when it purchased Blackthorne Software in December 1999. At the time, many users complained because they had purchased the Blackthorne software outright and objected to the monthly fees eBay instituted.
Selling Manager, which will remain priced at $4.99/month, is designed to be used with Turbo Lister, a free listing program that replaced eBay's Mister Lister program earlier this year. eBay announced a new version of the Turbo Lister tool this week. The new version includes support for eBay Austria and Switzerland, optional program updates and "compact user database feature."
