eBay hosted a workshop for members Tuesday evening moderated by Accenture marketing representatives. Accenture was gauging whether eBay members would be interested in buying wholesale lots from their enterprise customers.
Accenture owns 100% of the "Connection to eBay" service, which was created to help mid and large enterprises sell excess inventory on eBay. Connection to eBay targets Fortune 1000 companies and mid-sized businesses and provides them with a fully outsourced solution.
Masami Suzuki, an Accenture marketing representative, told workshop attendees that they are seeking eBay Trading Assistants who want product inventory.
"Our client base can offer a source of supply in several key categories. These categories include consumer electronics (home and car audio), computers, home & garden, home improvement, office supplies, apparel, auto/aircraft parts, and business and industrial products."
eBay created a directory of brokers, called Trading Assistants, in February 2002. Trading Assistants sell items for others on eBay on a commission basis.
Connection to eBay is currently working with companies like Hewlett-Packard and Chadwick’s Outlet to sell individual items on eBay. Suzuki said Accenture would be launching a new corporate Web site for Connection to eBay on April 28.
