eBay is holding a special promotion for fixed-price listings on its U.S. site today, April 8. All insertion fees for Fixed Price listings will be 50% off during the 1-day promotional period. This includes listings created prior to April 8, 2003 that are scheduled to start on April 8, 2003, and includes eBay Motors Non Vehicles listings. All other fees, including final value and optional listing fees, will still be charged.

Regular Auction-Style listings and Auction-Style listings with Buy It Now are excluded, as are Sothebys.com, Live Auction, International, Motors Vehicles, Real Estate, Ad Format, Professional Services and Store Inventory listings. Fixed Price listings created during the promotion on April 8, 2003 but scheduled to start after April 8, 2003 will also be excluded.

The fixed price format is different from the Buy-It-Now auction format, with a major advantage being the ability for sellers to sell multiple quantities of the same item at same prices. With the Auction BIN format, buyers can buy your item instantly or place a bid on your item. Once a bid is placed on the item, the option for bidders to "Buy It Now" disappears. With fixed-price format, buyers can purchase your item immediately at the price you have set. The Buy It Now price will not disappear until all quantity is sold or the listing ends.
