ePier has announced a feature that allows sellers to display their phone number on auction listings. The feature, which is optional, is intended to make buyers feel safer. "The phone number allows for more human contact so people can't hide behind a computer," said James Kim, ePier's President. Buyers will be able to telephone sellers to ask questions.
Fear of online auction fraud was a key reason for implementing the change. Kim said he also wants to make it easy and simpler for buyers and sellers on his site. By allowing sellers to list their phone number, it brings a more traditional contact. "In prior days, you would dial a phone and place an order," Kim said.
ePier, which was founded in 1998 and allows sellers to list items for in auction and fixed-price formats, charges commission fees (Final Value Fees) to sellers, but there are no listing fees.
Sellers must change their settings if they wish to have their telephone number display on their listings. Sellers should make the change on their login page.
