eBay warned its users to be patient with fellow trading partners affected by last Thursday's massive power outage in the Northeast. Many major U.S. and Canadian cities in the northeast were affected by a major power blackout beginning Thursday afternoon. While power was restored to some areas on Friday, other areas continued to have no power throughout the weekend. eBay members without power would be unable to check email or correspond with trading partners.

While Major Internet backbones and Web sites were not greatly affected, the power outage slowed down the U.S. Postal Service, Federal Express and UPS, according to Direct Magazine.
