eBay will be launching a feature called Pre-Filled Item Information in many subcategories of Books, Movies, Music, and Video Games in October, providing some of the same functionality as on its fixed-price Half.com site.
Sellers can use ISBN and UPC codes, as well as keywords, to pull up stock listing information on these items. They can then select content, including stock photos, item des criptions, and supplemental information (like songlists, film descriptions, etc.) that is added to listings automatically.
The Pre-Filled Item feature is optional and there is no charge for using it. Sellers who select this feature can pick and choose which pieces of content to use in their listings: Features like stock photos, descriptions, etc. can be used in place of, or in conjunction with, custom photos, detailed item descriptions, and other listing details.
eBay will publish a Half Transition Hub page available from users' My Account pages on Half.com September 12. eBay bought Half.com in 2000 and began integrating Half into the eBay site two years ago. Earlier this year, eBay said Half would be fully integrated into the eBay platform by thethird quarter of 2004. At that point, the Half.com brand and site will go away, and the Half.com functionality will be available within the eBay site.
