eBay will introduce a new optional feature called subtitles. The Subtitle upgrade costs 50 cents and allows sellers to add 45 characters of additional information that will appear below the item Title on the search and listings pages.
While the new feature helps buyers view more information as they browse listings, it won't help items show up in any additional search results. This is because words in the Subtitle will not show up in "Title Search," although they will show up in "Title and Description Search." Many sellers find the Title field in a listing too limiting to adequately describe their items. Titles can be 45 characters long.
Subtitles will be shown in all lists, including Search results, Browse by category, Seller's Other Items, and eBay Stores. The introductory price of 50 cents per listing is good through the end of the year, indicating a planned price increase in the new year. A comparable optional feature is "Bold," which makes the listing Title appear in bold font. The Bold feature costs an additional dollar.
