Swiftpay Payment Service Target of Spoof Email

It appears that a company called Swiftpay was the target of a spoof email campaign. Also called phishing, spoof emails are an attempt to trick recipients into revealing personal financial information in order to commit identity theft. Online payment services including PayPal are frequent targets of such attacks.

Calls and emails to Swiftpay on Thursday were not returned by press time. The online payment service is not affiliated with Western Union's Swiftpay service.

While the first phishing email was sent out as early as Tuesday, the spoof site was still live on Thursday evening.
