Terry and Ralph Kovel are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the publication of their first book on antiques and collectibles. As of this date, they have written 90 books, have over 4 million books in print, write a regular column for King Features syndicate that appears in 150 newspapers, and publish a monthly newsletter with over 150,000 subscribers. They also have a weekly TV show on HGTV. On their Web site, they list more than 400,000 free prices in a searchable database.

"Do what you love; the money will follow. If you love it, buy it.”

The Kovels have taken their own advice throughout their lives. They created a 19th century “country store” in the 3-room basement of their home. It contains thousands of items, including an 1860s stove, canned goods, bottles, household items, medicines and toys. The Kovels remain hands-on in their business. They manage a 20-person staff in offices housed in a wing added to their home.

So what was the first book written back in 1953? It was the first edition of "Dictionary of Marks – Pottery and Porcelain" published by Crown Publishing.

Congratulations to Terry and Ralph on their golden anniversary of publishing!
