eBay UK announced it will hold a Free Listing Day (FLD) promotion for sellers on January 8. Only listings in British Pounds Sterling on eBay.co.uk for auction listings and Fixed-Price Buy-It-Now listings will qualify for free listing fees. eBay Shop Inventory Format listings are also included, but if eBay Shop Inventory Format Listings do not sell after the 30 - 90 day period, relisting fees will be charged. Auction-style listings with Buy-It-Now as an option will still incur a charge. All other eBay selling fees will still apply, including final value fees and enhanced listing fees.

When eBay UK held a FLD on November 6, 2003, a major technical glitch caused sellers to be charged despite the promise of free listings. Many sellers complained they delayed listing for up to 14 hours until they got reassurances that eBay would refund them for items listed. Since sellers use free listing days to list items they might not ordinarily post, including items they are not certain will sell, they are especially careful to be sure their listings will indeed be free to list.

eBay Canada is also holding a Free Listing Day promotion on Thursday for items starting at $1 or less in US or Canadian Dollars. Insertion Fees will be credited during Free Listing Day. All other fees (final value fees, gallery, subtitle, store inventory format, fixed price, Buy It Now feature etc.) will still apply.

In other news, eBay is changing fees across 10 sites (including UK), including some significant fee increases. eBay announced a reduction in fees for its Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro software for UK users.
