Reading AuctionBytes: eBay Adds Search Feature, Sells CDs, Experiences Listing Tool Glitch

eBay said it will add a new feature called "Product Titles in Search Results" for Books, Movies, Music and Video Games categories. Searches will be shown up to three product options after searching for items that match similar items. The options appear based on information found in eBay's Pre-Filled Item Information feature in those media categories. (Pre-Filled Item Information FAQs are located at http://www.ebay.com/Pre-filledItemInformation/faqs/.)

Product Titles in Search Results will only appear when a majority of the items that match the keyword search have been listed with Pre-Filled Item Information. Items that are not listed using Pre-Filled Item Information will not be included in the listings on any Product Details pages.

Meanwhile, Washington Mutual said it will auction certificates of deposit (CDs) using eBay technology. The Bid Your Rate promotion started January 15. During the promotion, approximately 600 six-month CDs of $1,000 each will be made available for bidding during a six-week period, with approximately 100 CDs listed each week. Shoppers will be able to bid on the interest rate of their CDs, with bidding starting at higher interest rates, and subsequent bids bringing down the interest rate until the auction listing closes. If the final bid meets an undisclosed reserve, the successful bidder is expected to get a competitive interest rate on his or her CD. (http://www.wamucdauction.com)

eBay also said some members experienced intermittent difficulties when using the Sell Your Item form to list items on Wednesday evening. eBay said it has resolved the problem.
