eBay announced it is further integrating USPS and UPS shipping into its site. In mid-February, eBay will introduce Online Postage, which will allow sellers to print US Postal Service Priority Mail shipping labels with Delivery Confirmation and pay for the postage from their PayPal account. In March, sellers will also be able to buy USPS First Class, Parcel Post and Media Mail labels. Sellers can already buy and print UPS shipping labels from their PayPal accounts.
After an item has sold on eBay, a seller will be able to print a shipping label from UPS or USPS directly from My eBay or the Item page. Once the label is purchased, both the buyer and seller will be able to track the delivery status of the package on eBay and PayPal.
There will be no surcharge for buying UPS labels or US Postal Service labels with postage and Delivery Confirmation (which costs $.45 at the Post Office), and sellers will not be required to offer PayPal in their listings to use this product.
There is no indication yet how the new integration might affect online-postage services Endicia.com and Stamps.com.
