Accenture is dropping out of the eBay-management services business and is sending its clients to Auctionworks.
"While Connection to eBay has been successful in attracting mid- to large-sized companies to eBay, it is clear that scale and market share are also critical success factors in this evolving marketplace," said Jack Wilson, chief executive of Business Process Outsourcing at Accenture.
Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. It launched its eBay services in May 2002, hoping to capture what it estimated as the nearly $80 billion in excess or "end-of-life" inventory processed by U.S. businesses.
Customers currently using Accenture’s Connection to eBay service will be offered the opportunity to transition to Auctionworks, the largest provider of services to high-volume sellers on eBay. Going forward, Accenture will offer inventory liquidation services to its clients through Auctionworks.
